Introduction to Marine Vessels

Marine vessels have been used by mankind for many thousands of years. The first found boat dated back to about 10, 000 years, just being some coniferous hollowed-out logs. The use of these were for hunting and fishing and could hardly do more than float on water. Through-out history, the architecture of boats have improved. They started improving especially when the Egyptians started making proper hulls by lashing planks together with woven straps and making the boat water tight by placing grass or reeds between the planks so no water would flow in.
